Dave
personally interviewed and recruited chauffeurs in Cape Town,
Johannesburg and Durban. Although the need for a designated
driver service in South Africa is obvious, the support was
(and still is!) sadly lacking. The “designated driver”
service has since been withdrawn from Durban and Johannesburg
through lack of support. Nevertheless, Dave has persevered
and now arranges dinner transfers, airport transfers, chauffeur-driven
day-trips and evening chauffeurs for matric dances and boys’
nights “out-on-the-town” quite successfully in
Cape Town, and sometimes in Johannesburg too.
Dave
is a member of “Drive Alive” (Moira Winslow’s
campaign for promoting road safety) and Peninsula Tourism.
He has recently done a tourist-guiding course under Michele
Gavron, one of the country’s leading trainers and assessors.
The
Chauffeur’s new division, Earth Ventures, caters for
a less formal service and draws on Dave’s passion for
hiking, mountaineering, nature and holistic healing.
Even
though “Earth Ventures” demands a lot of Dave’s
time and attention, he has never forgotten his social commitment
of fulfilling the basic need for a dignified alternative to
drinking and driving … The Chauffeur lives on –
and drives – for you …
KEN CAMPBELL ~ Senior Guide, Chauffeur
Ken’s
experience as a chauffeur in Cape Town has given him the opportunity
to meet some very important people including the high commissioner
of Singapore and top executives from around the world.
Ken
became a qualified tour guide several years back and has a
special knack of making his passengers feel quite at ease
within the first few moments of meeting. Despite his protests,
Ken is an excellent and most patient chauffeur with a high
degree of professionalism.
DAVE HICKS ~ Chauffeur.
David
Hicks is a well-traveled, retired schoolmaster. He is also
a volunteer classical presenter on Fine Music Radio. He spends
his spare time travelling the world. Also being a rail enthusiast,
it is not surprising that he has ridden the Trans-Siberian
Express.
David
procured his professional driving permit so that he could
meet equally interesting people and share some of his travel
stories. He is a thorough gentleman and has absolute integrity.
MARTIN LOURENS ~ Chauffeur
Martin
is a loving father of four, a respected church member and
trustworthy chauffeur. He has organised and led several mountain
walks for young people and has been a member of the MCSA for
several years.
Martin’s
forte is long-distance driving. He drives anything from his
VW Combi to huge trucks. Lately, he has done several trips
to and from the Orange River and Namibia. However, Martin
will also gladly drive you to the airport, or for the whole
week.
PATRIC DANIELS ~ Sprinter Driver
Patrick
owns his own Sprinter and trailer and is only too willing
to oblige. His patience and good nature has earned him the
respect from coach loads of schoolchildren to bevies of ladies
out on hen’s nights … |
